Recently, Southwest Airlines donated 50 round-trip tickets, valued at $20,000, to Inheritance of Hope. This gift allows us to serve more families while meeting the goals of achieving unparalleled financial stewardship and providing ease of transportation to those for whom travelling is often most difficult.
The familiar Southwest heart is more than just a logo. It reflects the airline’s corporate culture, which recognizes and acts upon their unique opportunities to help those in need. One priority the company has identified is to help families facing serious illness. This compassionate spirit melds perfectly with the mission of IoH.
According to IoH Co-Founder and CEO, Deric Milligan, “This gift represents much more than just its financial value. These flights allow our coordinators to take the best possible care of each family—choosing a flight where they know, without a doubt, that the family will be well-cared-for. Flying Southwest is always a wonderful experience. Everyone is friendly and accommodating, and it is not uncommon for the crew to take pictures with kids or sign a card of support. They go above and beyond to care for our families, which is also what we’re all about.”
As part of the IoH family, we encourage you to reach out the next time you are flying and thank the employees of Southwest. If you happen to be passing through an airport near one of our 2018 retreat locations (Orlando, Southern California, Denver or New York), let Southwest know that the best way to experience IoH is to stop by a retreat—all our donors are always invited to come see us in action!
